NFL star Hines Ward was arrested last year for suspected DUI and was super paranoid about it landing in the news. The video is pretty funny and actually kind of sad. Sacha Baron Cohen is the mastermind behind film pranks and antics, but now it seems the conservative academy is not a fan. Sacha is due to be attending this year’s Oscars on Sunday night for Hugo, one of the films up for the best picture award. The creator of Borat is also currently promoting his new film, The Dictator which sees Sacha take on a new character, General Aladeen, a political strongman working to ensure that democracy never comes to his oppressed nation. In typical Sacha style, word got out that he was planning to walk the red carpet in character. The academy, anxious about an actor using the Oscars as a publicity stunt, have informed the studio distributing the new film that this would be a “very bad thing to do.” Could they prevent Sacha, the ultimate prankster and character-driven actor from attending the Oscars? And more interestingly, do you think Sacha will take heed of the Academy’s warning or come in disguise anyway?

I heard yesterday that the academy had pulled Sacha Baron Cohen’s tickets for the Oscars, but an academy spokeswoman has now come out and clarified that no decision has been made as they are trying to learn more about Sacha’s intentions.

I understand the academy’s rule about promotion of new films. I actually think that this is a fairly reasonable principle, but I also think that they are getting a bit over the top here. Sacha Baron Cohen is known for his antics and disguise pranks, it is part of his identity. The pranks are also meant to be taken lightheartedly and in line the humor that it is intended with.

Now that Sacha has been recommended not to come dressed as a Middle Eastern general, I am very excited to see what he ends up doing. My gut feeling is that he will probably not come in character for fear of upsetting the academy, and this just goes to show that Sacha himself has diluted and calmed down his antics and pranks as he has adapted his style to the mainstream. I actually would love for him to walk the red carpet with his beard and Aladeen get-up! It is very clever PR has had created regardless of whether he comes dressed in character or not..

Will the studio be able to control Sacha with the academy’s threat, and do you think they should be doing that in the first place?

I have sad news to report this morning, which I learned from TMZ. Daniel von Bargen, who is best known for playing Mr. Kruger in Seinfeld, is in hospital in Ohio after shooting himself in the head. There is talk of it being a failed suicide attempt, but he made the call to 911 for help. He is now in intensive care, fighting for his life in a critical condition. Yikes!

He starred in Basic Instinct with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone. You would also know Daniel as Chief Grady in Super Troopers and Sheriff Cooley in the Coen Brother’s film, O Brother, Where Art Thou? which starred George Clooney. Daniel hadn’t quite made it to the lead roles, but he has been in lots of things, and of course, his role in Seinfeld as George Costanza’s boss is memorable.

TMZ got a copy of the 911 call, in which Daniel tells the 911 operator, “I’ve shot myself in the head … and I need help.” The operator asks if it was an accident — Daniel replies, “I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn’t want to.” Daniel says he’s diabetic, explaining, “They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes.”

It is awful to hear such news and the very graphic details of someone shooting themselves in the temple. I am very relieved that Daniel called 911 and that law enforcement officers were sent over to him speedily in order to get him to the hospital. There is now, obviously, grave concern for Daniel’s mental well being . Let’s all send our well wishes to Daniel and hope he gets the help he needs to make a full recovery soon.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Talk Miscarriage On Today (Video)

In their first public appearance since news that the matriarch of the Duggar family had suffered a miscarriage last December, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar appeared on the Today Show this morning and spoke of their heartbreak. Michelle Duggar and her husband Jim Bob are doing the obligatory press rounds right now, as their reality TV show, “19 Kids and Counting” returns once again for a new season. The show will premiere tonight at 9:00 PM EST on TLC. It was on the Today Show last November that they first announced that Michelle was pregnant with their 20th child. Sadly, a month later, as Michelle and Jim Bob headed to a routine doctor’s visit to also find out the gender of their child, a heartbeat could not be found and they were told that Michelle had miscarried. TLC cameras were on hand at the doctor’s visit and captured the couple coming to terms with what they had just learned. It’s really very sad to watch. Because I had a bit of a rough start yesterday morning, my first day of 2012 turned out to be a lot more relaxed than I anticipated. I ended up spending some time with an old friend yesterday afternoon … because the 1985 Madonna film Desperately Seeking Susan was on cable. To be honest, I think I’ve only seen the film once or twice since it was originally released 27 years ago (!!!) so it was nice taking a trip back in time to remember the good ol’ days.

It’s crazy how iconic Madonna looks in this film. I mean, all the clichés we know about her stem from EVERYTHING about Desperately Seeking Susan. From Madonna‘s look, to her attitude to the music of the film, the Madonna who became a legend was really introduced to the world on a large scale in this film. Desperately is, in all honesty, a terrible film … but its true importance is as a time capsule from the 80s. Man, 85 … a lifetime ago.

2012 will be a BIG year for Ryan Seacrest!

On top of his busy schedule that includes American Idol, hosting a radio show, and producing numerous reality hits for E!, the multi-hyphenate is creating his own television network!

Seacrest is partnering with Mark Cuban to rebrand the already existing HDNET as AXS TV (in case you were wondering, it's pronounced "access").

Sources say the channel will start broadcasting under the new name in the summer and will feature mostly live lifestyle and live entertainment fare geared toward pop culture and entertainment enthusiasts . Thanks to investing partners like AEG and talent agency CAA, they've got lots of connections to utilize.

You won't be seeing Seacrest's face on any programming, but he will be creating content, as he told sources a while back:

“[AXS TV] will not be the Ryan Seacrest channel… it will not be branded with my name or my face. My role would be to hope to provide content for them, but primarily it would be an ownership role.”

Last night's episode saw Bonnie have a prophetic dream. Is that a new "power?"

It'll happen a little bit more of it in terms of trying to crack the code, which I think it so interesting because you see so much of the supernatural in the actual Mystic Falls world, but you don't really see it in terms of a subconscious way. I thought it was really cool that they gave Bonnie that.

It's the latest example of her forming an uneasy alliance with The Salvatore brothers. Why do you think she continues to team up with them when they've caused her so much personal pain?

I think that all Bonnie really wants to do is protect the greater good and because of that she's gone against so many of her instincts.

In this dream, she saw Klaus lying in the coffin that in reality can't be opened. How long will it remain sealed?

I can't say how long it will be but I can tell you that whatever is in that coffin is extremely important to the future of what's happening in Mystic Falls – and the show in general. There's a lot of weight to that reveal.

Suffice it to say, the reveal will be, in true TVD fashion, shocking?

So shocking. I thought that by season three they wouldn't be able to shock me anymore, but that has not been the case at all. It's always said that a third season is the best season, and in our case, that's so true. This year is so incredibly shocking. It's a mind f*** and I love it [laughs]. People will not believe what's coming and the degree of twists and turns with how they interlock the originals with other things and how their relationships with everyone in Mystic Falls is going to play out.

Last night didn't really deal with this, but where is Bonnie's head at in terms of Jeremy after the whole Anna thing?

If you really love somebody, I don't think you could ever get over a pain like that and I think Bonnie was opening herself up to him, in spite of her trust issues [laughs]. So I think it was devastating for her. I also think she knows that Jeremy is young and people make mistakes, so it's half and half.

In next week's episode, titled Our Town, Bonnie finds out Elena had Damon compel Jeremy into leaving Mystic Falls. How does she react?

It's shocking – I don't know if I can say that she's happy or sad about [him leaving], it's a lot of mixed emotions. Which I like. She kind of wanted him to leave town because of everything that happened but now that he's gone, she's sad. It's that thing where you want something to happen but when it does, you're no longer sure you wanted it to happen. If anything, she's more shocked by Elena's choice to compel Jeremy to leave. Her reaction to that is very interesting.

Caroline's birthday is the big event in next week's episode and the group throws her a birthday party in a tomb. Whose idea was that?

[laughs] It wasn't Bonnie’s idea! It wasn't Bonnie’s idea! She's not that creepy. But I will tell you that it's a very cool location we've never filmed in before and it's important that people pay attention. You should pay attention to everything on this show because it always circles back into play somehow.

What else should people look out for next week?

What I love next week is the way Caroline was written. Her take on being a vampire is something that hasn't been explored and I love how [co-creator] Julie Plec chose to explore being a young adult as a vampire and that transition. It's so genius how she so subtlety did it – there's so much depth to it.

Whenever The CW sets up a big round of phoners for you, it's because Bonnie is quickly put in a life or death situation. Safe to say that's the case here?

I love that she's always in danger of dying. Half of me doesn't want to be killed off the show, but I want people to be nervous – I don't want anyone to get comfortable with the mortality of these characters. I love my fans and I love this show, but because of her fearlessness and self-sacrificing nature, it doesn't have to be a killer that takes her out. It could be herself.

If Bonnie does die, is that how you'd like her to go out?

I would prefer a big, huge, blow-out self-sacrificial death. That's who she is. Bonnie is a powerhouse character and if it were to come to death one day, I would hope it was a choice she made to die.
